Application and Relevance
This unit contains the knowledge and skills to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote or isolated situation. It is relevant for personnel who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

Entry Requirements There are no prerequisite units, however it is recommended that have some prior experience of providing first aid and have previously attained HLTAID003/HLTAID011 Provide first aid. Participants should have numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework. Participants also need the ability to meet the physical demands of the practical first aid skills including CPR.
Assessment Methods Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge. Note that the provision of CPR must be demonstrated on the floor/ground/deck.
Award Issued A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participantsAll Students will be enrolled with Healthguard First Aid, RTO 21156 which will be responsible for the quality of training and assessment provided and for the issuing of Statements of Attainment for the units of competency on its scope.
Training and assessment will be conducted by Rural and Remote First Aid under Healthguard First Aid responsibility and direction.
